Duckie Thot 2023: Puerto Rico

Duckie Thot was photographed by Derek Kettela in Puerto Rico for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue along with fellow models Ellie Thumann and Jennifer Atilémile.

She appeared in the 2013 season of Australia’s Next Top Model when she was 17 years old and moved to New York City to begin her modeling career shortly after. Thot made her runway debut in the Yeezy spring-summer ’17 ready-to-wear show but the former Victoria’s Secret model is best known for being the face of Fenty Beauty.

The South Sudanese model, who made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2022, uses her platform to increase diversity and inclusion within the fashion industry.

Rich in culture and history, Puerto Rico offers both thrilling adventure and ultimate relaxation. It’s a hot spot for authentic cuisine, exotic wildlife, breathtaking scenery and more. The archipelago located in the Caribbean Sea consists of one main island and four smaller islands, as well as numerous islets, all of which offer secluded sandy spots and immaculate views. It provided an unforgettable setting for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

The styling for Thot’s photo shoot in Puerto Rico was tagged “For the Love of Denim.” Each swimwear look was either fully denim or largely inspired by the blue jean motif and captured shades of denim across the spectrum. The SI Swimsuit team worked closely with designers to upcycle previously used materials into unique and chic looks that brought their funky vision to life.
